"The Evolution of Man" is an abstract artwork that is beautifully textured to provide an interesting and hypnotizing array of bumps and crinkles. It boasts vibrant colours and will definitely lighten the mood in any room. The man in the photo appears as though he is sitting in front of a laptop. At the end of the day it feels like we have all evolved to sit in front of computers to make a living in contrast to "working the fields" so to speak.
This painting went through a very cognitive process of understanding the shapes that where emerging through the textures and trying to understand the composition that worked best with the images I saw before they were painted. The Inspiration for this artwork first emerged whilst looking at torn street posters that are glued over brick walls and may have been painted over several times and had more posters stuck on top. As a child sitting in the back of the car staring out the window, this reoccurring theme of a grungy/ derelict yet visually mesmerizing process of a wall evolving and decaying over time really had an impact on my art and gave me an appreciation for the beauty in the old and decrepit yet still evolving urban decay with its gritty texture and abstraction.
