Opposites attract is a piece that aims to highlight the connections between people and what makes people bond with each other. This topic has often intrigued me and I have come to the conclusion that we are connected by experiences. Good experiences and bad experiences shape us, as well as connect us to people who have either gone through something similar or in one way or another relate to your pain or joy.
Like most of Mikel's art, this artwork is painted crudely and features dribbles and scratches which symbolize the messy challenges that we face in our lives that ultimately shape us. The figures are connected by this pain and may be friends or lovers but this is up to the viewer to decide. I think this piece will resonate with most people as we all have a unique story about ourselves and those that are in or were in our lives.
